Indigestion is the condition that Ayurveda describes as agnimandhya, or the suppressed state of fire. Over eating or eating incompatible food can cause temporary indigestion. Indigestion can be characterized by a burning sensation in chest, heaviness in stomach, vomiting and nausea.
Home Remedies for Indigestion
Lemon is the fruit of choice in digestion. The juice of half a lemon should be added to a glass of water, along with a bit of soda bicarbonate and stirred well. This should be taken in case of indigestion for instant relief.
The cured betel nuts are pounded and mixed with mouth fresheners and digestives like edible camphor(kapur), cardamom(elaichi) and poppy seeds(khus khus) to make the market-available betel nut powder. Usually chewed after a meal ,it clears the mouth and stomach, gives a sense of satiation and helps in digesting even the heaviest of meals.
Peppermint is a good for indigestion. Those who are prone to heartburn may try peppermint tea. It will help indigestion with out causing heartburn.
Mix 2 pinches of rock salt and 1/2 tsp carom seeds ( ajwain ). Chew it and wash it down with water for upset stomach or indigestion,
In 1 glass of water, add 2-3 drops of mint essence and drink after every 4 hours.
Take 2-3 drops of garlic oil or ˝ cup of Soya oil and gently massage your tummy.
Citrus fruits such as oranges, tangerines, lemon, and lime are also effective remedies for indigestion. The citric acid found in these fruits neutralizes the acidity of the upper GI tract and the stomach, as well as the acid given off by certain types of foods. This is one of the best home remedies for indigestion.
Water Treatment like administering enema daily. Massage the abdomen, cold friction bath, alternate hot and cold hip baths at night, application of ice bag over the stomach half an hour after meals and wet girdle-pack applied at night is also beneficial. This is a very simple and effective home remedies for indigestion.

Orange is effective Home Remedy for Indigestion as it gives relax to the digestive organs and supplies nutrition.
Aloe vera is soothing to the GI tract and also relieves heartburn. Take 1/4 cup of Aloe vera juice on an empty stomach in the am and pm.
Ground cardamom seed mixed with ginger, cloves and coriander is an effective Home Remedy for Indigestion.
Activated charcoal capsules, taken with water, will absorb toxins and acid in stomach that often cause gas and pain.
Anise tea is also great for indigestion. To make the tea, do as above with the tea ball, but use only two teaspoons of bruised seeds (fruits) per cup of water. Note: Some newborn infants may have a toxic reaction to this tea, so it should not be given to newborns or nursing mothers without talking to a pediatrician. Also note that this is anise, not star anise. These are the effective home remedies for indigestion.
Taking a mixture of 1 to 2 teaspoons equally of natural apple cider vinegar and raw honey in a glass of distilled water before meals should prevent heartburn. Natural apple cider vinegar also promotes digestion, assimilation and elimination, and it neutralizes any toxic substance taken into the body. If you just don\'t like the taste of vinegar, you can take natural apple cider vinegar tablets and wash them down with honey water.
