A varicose vein is an enlarged and usually gnarled vein. Any vein can become a varicose vein but most varicose veins are located in the legs and the feet. Varicose veins are usually found in the feet or legs due to the fact that most people do a lot of walking. The presser of walking and standing is what causes varicose veins. For most people varicose veins are only an appearance issue and not a medical issue. Although there are times when varicose veins can lead to other serious issue and can also be a sign of other disorders of your circular system.

Home Remedy Varicose Veins

Certain nutrients have been found effective in the treatment of varicose veins. The most important of these nutrients is Vitamin C. When Vitamin C is lacking, veins sag and become tortuous, which is the first stage of varicosity. In addition, there is often an anemic condition present, which makes for a poor and weakened blood supply. Dr. Foote says, “many of these patients are deficient in vitamins and healing may be accelerated by attention to this point, especially if large doses of Vitamin C are added to their diet”.

A hot Epsom salt bath is effective and should be taken twice in a week.

A mudpack can be applied over affected area at night and can be left till morning.

The alternate hot and cold hipbath is valuable and can be taken daily.

Vegetable juices serve as an excellent remedy in the treatment of varicose veins. In 300 ml carrot juice, mix 200 ml spinach juice and drink on a regular basis.

Consume foods rich in vitamin E and C. Take a daily dose of 3000 mg of vitamin C and 600-1200 mg of vitamin E. It will help in relieving pain.

Wear support hose. They help provide relief. These stockings, available in pharmacies and department stores, resist the blood’s tendency to pool in the small blood vessels closest to the skin, explains Dr. Phillips. (Instead, the blood is pushed into the larger, deeper veins, where it is more easily pumped back up to the heart.)

Throw those veins a one-two punch. Dr. Phillips suggests that sufferers of varicose veins combine the powers of gravity and support hose in the following exercise: Slip on your support hose. Then lie flat on your back and raise your legs straight up in the air, resting them against a wall. Hold this position for 2 minutes. This allows the blood to flow out of the swollen leg veins back toward your heart. Repeat throughout the day, if possible, as often as needed.

Do a daily routine of exercise. Walking, swimming and bicycling all promote good circulation. It is very important that in complement maintain a healthy weight.

If you at work are sitting on a desk all day, make sure you take breaks to walk around. you can also flex your muscles and wiggle your toes to increase blood flow. If it is possible try to rest your feet on an object that is elevated from the floor when seated.
