You can expect to get well soon from the agonizing sprain by making pineapple part of your staple diet and that too in good quantity. The contents in pineapple have bromelain, an enzyme which quickens the healing process. The side effects of bromelain causes dermatitis, so if your skin itches due to the pineapple diet, stop it immediately.
LICORICE:
This is also a popular herb for sprain. Licorice is used in the treatment of muscular aches and sprains. Its roots are soaked in water overnight and this infusion is applied on the affected parts.
MARJORAM:
This is an excellent herb for sprain. Oil of the marjoram herb is extracted and is applied locally on the affected regions in case of sprains, bruises and even paralysis. In case of stiffness, a simple application of the marjoram oil, slightly warmed, helps to loosen the muscles.
Make a paste of lime leaves and butter and apply on the affected area to reduce the pain from sprain. This is a very effective home remedy for sprain.
Raw lime powder can also be mixed with 1 tablespoon of honey and applied to the affected area.
Heat powdered jaggery in a little quantity of ghee and apply when it is bearable hot in the sprain area to have a relief.
Pineapple:
Eat raw pineapple, its helps in reducing the pain and swelling
Turmeric Powder:
Put one-half teaspoon of turmeric powder with warm water twice a day.
Compression: When you’re not applying an ice pack, wrap the injured joint with an elastic bandage. This reduces swelling and helps minimize your discomfort as your joint heals. Keep using the bandage for several days.
Elevation: To regulate the flow of blood to the site of the sprain, raise the injured joint above the level of your heart. Later on, switch to heat. Once your swelling has begun to subside, replace the ice packs with heat. You can soak the affected joint in tolerably hot water or apply a heated gel pack.
