Home Remedies for Rheumatism
Rheumatism is not a single disease. It pertains to a whole range of conditions, all of which cause pain. These conditions affect the joints, the muscles and the ligaments. Rheumatism is more common among the middle aged and elderly people. The exact cause of most forms of rheumatism is not known. Exposure to wet and cold may aggravate the pain. There are many types of rheumatism, and some of the most common ones are:

Some forms of rheumatism are called non-articular rheumatism and may affect the soft tissues causing pain throughout the body. Conditions like tendonitis and fibromyalgia fall into this category. As well, non-articular rheumatism can be localized to specific areas in the body. Bursitis is a non-articular form of rheumatism that affects and inflames the bursa, which are special sacs that protect joints and overlapping muscles. Bursitis most frequently occurs at the site of one joint that may have been injured through overuse.
The juice of raw potato is regarded as an excellent remedy fur rheumatism. One or two teaspoons of the juice, taken out by pressing mashed raw potatoes, should be taken before meals. This will help to eliminate the toxic condition and relieve rheumatism. The skin of the potato is also an excellent remedy fur rheumatism. The skin is exceptionally rich in vital mineral salts, and the water in which the peelings are boiled is one of the best medicines for ailments caused by excess toxic matter in the system. Approximately thirty grams of the potato peelings should be thoroughly washed and boiled in half a litre of water till it is reduced to half. The decoction should then be strained and a glass of the same should be taken three or four times daily
Bogbean - Useful for treatment of rheumatism, osteo-arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Also has a stimulating effect on the walls of the colon and digestive juices.
Celery Seeds - Use dried ripe fruits to use as an anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic, diuretic or anti-spasmodic. Great for treating rheumatism, arthritis and gout.
Chapparal - Very useful in cases of acne, arthritis, chronic backache, skin conditions of warts and blotches. Also one of the best cancer herbs.
Medicine Chest: Always keep some honey in your domestic medicine chest. It is an agreeable sweetening ingredient for mixtures. It is a good vehicle in which to administer poweders for children, and Bhasma or metallic oxides like Makadwaja, Vasanta Kusumakara, etc. Pills can be made with the aid of honey.
Mel Depuratum is purified honey. Commercial honey is heated in a water bath and while still hot, is strained through a warm flannel. This is the way to purify honey.
A substitute for sugar and useful in burns: Honey is a substitute for sugar in diabetes. Honey and milk is a very good combination. This supplies much energy and vigour. Honey is useful in burns and scalds. It is a soothing application. It will prevent the formation of blebs if applied in time.
A gentle massage with Arthcare Oil (Anti-Inflammatory ) is recommended to relieve arthritis pain and to strengthen the bone tissues, the skeletal and the neuromuscular systems, giving a comfortable movement of joints and muscles.
Make a rub by mixing 1 oz. of oil of wintergreen, 3 oz. chloroform, and 12 oz. of rubbing alcohol. Rub the mixture on the affected areas.
Mix three lemons and three tablespoons Epsom salts in one pint of warm water and take one-teaspoon in the morning and one at night. Good Home Remedy for Rheumatism Arthritis.
