Home Remedies for Prickly Heat

Prickly heat or heat rash is an irritating eruption of the skin due to obstruction of the sweat glands over certain areas of the body. In this condition many tiny pin-head-size swellings occur in the skin, accompanied by severe itching. The areas most involved are the chest, back, waistline, armpits, and groins. Infants and overweight persons often suffer from heat rash.

Prickly Heta Rash Home Remedy

Dry the barks of banyan tree and grind it into find powder. Apply it over the infected area. This also gives fast relief from prickly heat.

You can also apply an herbal or non-perfumed talcum powder after bath. This will help in absorbing extra moisture from the body and protect from prickly heat. Repeat this process 4-5 times a day.

Fuller’s earth (multani mitti) is useful home remedy for prickly heat. Make multani mitti pack by adding 4-5 tablespoon of it with 2-3 tablespoon of rose water and plain water to make a thick paste. Apply it over the back, and other affected area. Allow it to dry and then wash it off using cold water.

Ice Pack:
Use as cold compress for immediate relief from prickling sensation

Arrow Root Powder:
Sprinkle the powder in the affected areas after each bathing

Talcum powder and ointments:

Apply herbal or non-perfumed talcum powder after bath. This will absorb extra moisture from the body and protect from prickly heat . Repeat this process 4-5 times a day. The only idea is to keep the body dry and free from sweat and moisture. Similarly, there are some herbal ointments and lotions like aloe vera-rich lotions that can be used for soothing the affected skin.

Grind leaves of neem in water and apply on the affected skin.
Avoid excessive heat and humidity and keep as cool as possible.
Wear loose cotton clothing to encourage the evaporation of sweat and prevent further skin irritation.

Make a compress by dipping a washcloth in a mixture of one teaspoon of baking soda per cup of cool water. Apply to the rash for five to ten minutes. Do this four or five times a day.

Avoid overdressing. Allow Skin to breathe. Avoid heavy moisturizers.
Dress your baby sensibly, preferably in layers that can be peeled away as conditions change and you’lllikely avoid the problem altogether.
