Jaundice is the most common of all liver disorders. It is a condition in which yellow discoloration of the skin and mucous membranes. occur due to an increase in the bile pigments, namely, bilirubin in the blood.Jaundice Home Remedies
Bitter Luffa:
The juice of bitter luffa is regarded as an effective remedy for jaundice. It is obtained by pounding and squeezing the bitter luffa through cloth. The juice should be placed on the palm of the hand and drawn up through the nostrils. This will cause a profuse outflow of a yellow-coloured fluid through the nostrils. The toxic matter having been evacuated in a considerable quantity, the patient will feel relieved.
This is, however, a strong medicine and may cause side-effects like giddiness, migraine, and, at times, high fever for a short duration in patients with a delicate nature. Its use should, therefore, be avoided by such patients.
Avoid non-vegetarian foods at least till the effects of the jaundice last on the skin. Do not take even heavy vegetarian foods. The reason is that the liver needs to produce more bile to digest these heavy foodstuffs and this could alleviate the pigmentation of the skin.
Completely restrict your intake of junk food such as chocolate, cakes, pastries, potato chips, ice-creams, colas and other aerated drinks,
etc.
• Always drink water that is filtered or boiled. Do not drink raw milk.
1/2 teaspoon ginger juice, 1-teaspoon mint juice and 1-teaspoon lime juice to be taken as often as possible. This is simple but effective home remedy for jaundice
Five teaspoons of juice of fresh neem leaves along with pure honey in equal quantities should be well mixed, and to this mixture add ½
teaspoon of black pepper powder and stir well. This should be taken in two equal doses, in the morning and evening. It makes a good home remedy for jaundice.
Snake Gourd: 15 gm of dry leaves are cooked in 250 ml of boiling water and an infusion is prepared. Next a decoction of coriander seeds is made by boiling 1 tsf in 500 ml of water. The two decoctions are given thrice daily in doses of 30-60 ml depending on the severity of disease.
Grind a handful of papaya leaves into a paste. Combine a half a tsp. of the paste with 1 tsp. of raw honey and take this 1 to 2 times a day until the jaundice goes away.
Boil 1 cup of water, then pour it over four to five leaves from a lemon tree. Steep for at least 5 minutes, then strain off the leaves and drink the water. Do this 4 times a day until you no longer have jaundice.
