Irritable bowel syndrome is an intestinal disorder that occurs at any age but mainly at adulthood or middle age. Mainly women suffer from IBS. It causes abdominal pain, cramps or bloating, and diarrhea or constipation.

Experiment with fiber. When you have irritable bowel syndrome, fiber can be a mixed blessing. Although it helps reduce constipation, it can also make gas and cramping worse. The best approach is to gradually increase the amount of fiber in your diet over a period of weeks.

Eat at regular times. Don’t skip meals, and try to eat about the same time each day to help regulate bowel function. If you have diarrhea, you may find that eating small, frequent meals makes you feel better. But if you’re constipated, eating larger amounts of high-fiber foods may help move food through your intestines.

Drinking lots and lots of water will further improve your condition. Water, like fiber, helps maintain a smooth regular bowel movement and is the best home remedies for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Six to eight glasses is the recommended intake; however, you may also need to drink more during summer than during cold season.

Eat small meals frequently rather than a large meal. Eat foods that contain fair amount of carbohydrates. The food can be included like pasta, rice etc.

Try to restrict non
-vegetarian diet till you are okay with IBS. Non-vegetarian diet may irritate your intestines and hence can worsen the case of IBS.

Mix two tsp of brandy along with a cup of lukewarm water and drink just before going to bed. This will help in relieving IBS. This is one of the simple home remedies for irritable bowel syndrome.

Take note of the kinds of food you eat that precipitate an attack. Eliminate them from your diet and re-introduce them slowly, one at a time once a week, to confirm what triggers the problem. Sore people have lactose intolerance and react to milk products. Try eating fresh unsweetened yoghurt made from cow’s milk. Add a little roasted, coarsely pounded cummim seeds and a pinch of rock salt to your yoghurt.

Reduce fats in your dirt, as fat stimulates colon contractions that worsen already irritable bowels.

Avoid coffee - there are some resins in the coffee bean other than caffeine which can cause the irritation.

Cut out smoking, red wine and beer from your diet.
