Home Remedies for Bruises
A bruise is a common skin injury that results in a discoloration of the skin. Blood from damaged blood vessels deep beneath the skin collects near the surface of the skin resulting in what we think of as a black and blue mark.
Home Remedy for bruises
Ice packs- wrapped to keep the ice from freezing your skin- and the cold compresses used right away can hold down the swelling and damage from most bruises. The cold may also keep the bruise from turning purple and it helps dull the pain.
Put a cold compress on the sore place within 15 minutes of the injury. Leave it on for 10 to 20 minutes at a time, then take it off for 10 to 20 minutes at a time, then take it off for 30 to 40 minutes. Repeat many times for the next 3 days.
Raise the bruised part above the level of your heart, if you can. This holds down fluid buildup and swelling
You can take an infusion for the bruised wounds. Old bruises have to be taken care with tincture for at least two months.
Plaster made from fresh comfrey leaves is the best home remedy for sprains, bruises and cuts.
Cabbage contains anti-inflammatory properties which applied in emaciated form on bruises or swelling can help in the healing procedure.
Besides Arnica cream, homeopathic remedies include Hamamelis, Ruta. grav., Hypericum and tincture of Calendula. Bach Rescue Remedy, which comes in a tincture and can induce calm in times of anxiety when taken internally, can also be applied directly to a bruise to heal it.
Vitamin C
Studies show that people who lack vitamin C in their diets tend to bruise more easily and their wounds heal more slowly.
Medications
Some drugs like anti-inflammatory drugs, antidepressants, asthma medicines and aspirins will cause bruise easily. Alcoholics or drug abusers are likely to bruise easily.
Pounding, raw headaches -
Salicylates, a pain-relieving ingredient found in aspirin, are also discovered to be present in almonds! 15 raw almonds do the work of one aspirin! However, although you don’t risk any side effects, the almonds will take longer to have an effective home remedy for bruises.
Try a combination of cinnamon and cayenne pepper in your tea! It is supposed to be very effective in tightening the bowels quickly. A fun fact: It’ll take longer to prepare the tea than for the concoction to take effect.
Mix 2 tablespoons of cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of castor oil. Dampen a clean white cloth and make a cornstarch/castor oil poultice. Apply the poultice to the bruise and leave it on until the damp cloth gets dry.
Apply a sliced, raw onion over the bruise, but not if the skin is broken. Make a salve by mashing pieces of parsley into a teaspoon of butter. Gently rub the salve on the bruise.
Parsley is another herb which has abundant supply of vitamins and works as a therapeutic treatment for the wound. Apply crushed parsley on the bruised area. Keep doing this till the blue or black marks disappear forever.
If you can stand the pain, rubbing the bruise will disburse the blood, and lessen the discoloration.
You don’t need any special creams or oils to rub into it, but using something slippery may make rubbing it less painful. Any old Lotion or oil should work for that purpose. It doesn’t have any medical benefit, but it would likely make the rubbing easier.
