Backache, also known as back pain, or dorsopathy, is a nonspecific term used to describe discomfort or a pain in the region of the back or spine. It is one of the most common complain among humans. The back pain may come from the muscles, nerves, bones, joints or other structures in the spine. The causes for backaches vary: It can be an infection, inflammation, mechanical pain, degenerative, neoplastic, metabolic pain, referred pain or psychogenic pain.

Massage – there are several Ayurvedic massage oils for rheumatic pains and general body pains. Your physician prescribes a medicinal oil to massage your lower back with. It relives pain.
Posture – don’t lean forward when standing or sitting. Take an upright position or comfortably press against the chair you sit. The angle between your legs and torso should be more than 90 degree but less than 135 degree. Practice sitting like this earlier in your life.
Lie down and rest for both mild and severe pain. Lying down on the floor takes pressure off back and provides relief. Lie on the floor with your hips and knees bent and your heels on the seat of a chair.
Take aspirin, ibuprofen or naproxen pills to prevent inflammation and to reduce pain.
Vitamin C that is mainly found in citrus fruits is considered valuable for getting rid of backaches. Consume about 2000 mg of this vitamin everyday.
Applying garlic oil on the back gives immense relief from back pain. Take about 10 small garlic pieces and fry them in oil on a low flame. You can either use sesame oil, coconut oil or mustard oil. Fry till the garlic cloves turn light brown. Let the oil prepared from garlic cool completely. Thereafter apply it on the back and keep it for about three hours. In a couple of days, you’ll feel its magical effects.
Wheat soaked overnight is mixed with half quantity of cuscus grass. This mixture is added with 4x quantity of boiled milk and half the measure of coriander. This mixture is consumed to relieve back pain.
Cuscus grass and sugar in equal volumes are taken to relieve back ache. This is taken daily twice along with 5 grams of warm milk. Warm water mixed with a tablespoon of honey is also used to administer back pain. Exercise and a brisk walk play a major role for curing back pain in the long run.
Care should be taken on the surface one sets his foot on as it influences back ache. Both extremely hard beds and extremely cozy beds should be avoided in order that the back gets adequate rest.
